IFFA 2025 - Review: Seydelmann impresses with innovation and efficiency
Maschinenfabrik Seydelmann KG presented itself at IFFA 2025 as a driver of innovation in the food machinery industry. Visitors were able to experience the concentrated power of technical development - with numerous innovations and revisions that hit the nerve of the industry: more efficient, more hygienic, more automated. Whether meat or alternative proteins - Seydelmann impressively demonstrated what modern production looks like today. Almost 90 machines and three fully automated production lines were exhibited on a stand area of around 1000m².
New presentation: The KK 254 c AC-6 vacuum continuous cutter
A highlight was the premiere of the new KK 254 c AC-6 vacuum emulsifier. Processing under vacuum produces a particularly compact, color-stable sausage meat with a constant volume weight - free of metal abrasion thanks to the patented contact-free cutting set. The low height allows direct and space-saving integration into production lines or downstream of cutters.
Versatility with a small footprint: AE 130 M automatic mixer grinder
Also new was the AE 130 M - a 4-in-1 solution, this machine can be used as a pure automatic grinder for large pieces of raw material, as a mixing grinder for mixing and grinding, or as a pure mixer with its own discharge flap. Thanks to the removable mixing unit and large feeding worm, even whole muscle pieces can be processed without any problems. A real all-rounder for flexible production environments.
Upgrade for a classic: AU 200 automatic grinder
The popular AU 200 automatic grinder has been revised in many details and presented in its latest generation: with an even larger feeding worm, larger hopper capacity and standard CIP cleaning for the main bearings. The optimized machine frame and the new product flow-optimized hopper ensure increased hygiene and ease of service in addition to a higher hourly output.
More safety in the details: Unidirectional cutting set parts and visual cutting set recognition for Seydelmann grinders
Another forward-looking detail that was very well received at the trade fair was the introduction of unidirectional cutting set parts. They prevent incorrect assembly, which can otherwise lead to increased wear, product loss or even machine damage. Thanks to specific adjustments to the worm pin, the wedge in the worm housing and the matching counterparts in the knives and holeplates, incorrect installation is no longer possible - the parts only fit in one direction.
Existing machines can be easily retrofitted by replacing the worm pin and wedge - a simple solution with a big impact.
The new visual cutting set recognition, which was presented for the first time at IFFA, offers even more safety. Although the installation of a cutting set only takes a few minutes, it is prone to errors - with potential consequences for product quality, safety and machine service life.
The system allows cutting set configurations, including the installation sequence, to be stored on a product-specific basis and linked to the machine control system. The machine only starts when the cutting set specified in the recipe has been installed correctly.
This is made possible by data matrix codes on the individual cutting set parts, which must be scanned before installation. The control system shows the operating personnel exactly which parts are required - including the installation sequence. The system provides immediate and clear feedback, preventing incorrect assembly before damage can occur.
The processing speed and other parameters can also be linked to the cutting set - each recipe knows "its" cutting set and automatically retrieves all the associated information. An additional safety feature: if a holeplate is worn, its matrix code can no longer be read - so it cannot be reused by mistake.
The result: greater product safety, fewer operating errors - and even less experienced personnel can install the cutting set correctly. This reduces training requirements, product loss and downtime - with significant savings potential.
It's round and square: Premiere for the Trolley Mixe
The new Trolley Mixer, which was presented for the first time at IFFA and won the FT Award, was a particular crowd-puller. True to the motto "It goes round in the square", the machine mixes products directly in square 200 or 300-liter standard trolleys - without decanting and therefore particularly hygienically. Different mixing arms for gentle mixing, cohesive processing or intensive kneading can be changed without tools. The rotating mixing arms in combination with the movement of the trolley guarantee complete intensive mixing. In addition to high efficiency, the machine scores with reduced cleaning and storage requirements and saves significant costs by using existing standard trolleys.
Proven and still unique: the Trolley Tumble
One machine that particularly stood out at the trade fair was the Seydelmann FlexMix - a real jack-of-all-trades for convenience production. Frying, roasting, simmering, stewing, steaming, reducing, cooling and, of course, mixing - the FlexMix does it all in just one machine.
This versatility is achieved by direct steam nozzles, a double-walled hopper with heat transfer medium and vacuum recooling with condensate separation. Flexible mixing paddles adapt to the product, prevent build-up and ensure precise mixing. Numerous optional features - from liquid gas cooling and recipe control to integrated CIP cleaning - make the FlexMix an individually configurable all-in-one solution. It is available with hopper volumes from 600 to 4,700 liters.
Revised classics: vacuum cooking cutters and industrial cutter
Seydelmann also presented consistent further developments in the cutter sector: removable, self-adjusting seals, water and steam lines made entirely of stainless steel and pressurized machine frame - all for maximum hygiene and ease of maintenance.
Intelligent control to combat the shortage of skilled workers: Auto-Command 50
The new Auto-Command 500 standard control system is an important point for skilled trades businesses. It allows intuitive, safe operation - manual or program-supported - and thus makes work easier even when personnel availability is low. Thanks to IP69K protection, it is also particularly easy to clean and robust.
OEE displays for production lines: efficiency and transparency in real time
Another milestone for Industry 4.0 and digital production processes is the introduction of OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) displays by Seydelmann. These enable precise, transparent monitoring of machine performance in real time - and therefore sustainable optimization of the entire production line.
The OEE displays provide comprehensive data on machine availability, performance and quality. Thanks to this real-time information, production managers can react immediately to malfunctions or deviations, minimize unplanned downtimes and increase capacity utilization. Weak points are quickly identified, which facilitates preventive measures and interface optimizations.
Continuous data collection also improves the coordination of capacities, shortens throughput times and ensures higher product quality through early detection of quality deviations. At the same time, transparency promotes the responsible use of resources - raw materials, working time and energy can be used more efficiently and costs can be sustainably reduced.
With this innovation, Seydelmann offers a strategic tool for the continuous improvement of production processes. Not only the machines themselves, but also upstream and downstream process steps can be included to optimally control the entire production chain.
With direct access to relevant key figures, the OEE display also promotes employee motivation and strengthens active participation in process improvements. This step ensures the long-term competitiveness of Seydelmann's customers on the global market.
Conclusion: Technology with vision and a down-to-earth approach
With its appearance at IFFA, Seydelmann once again demonstrated that technological progress is not an end in itself but provides concrete answers to real requirements - through flexibility, automation, hygiene and safety. The high visitor frequency and the consistently positive response confirm: Seydelmann remains one of the industry's innovative leaders.
